Cystic FibrosisCystic Fibrous disease is an incurable hereditary disease. A genetic defect in the CFTR gene (Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulator) which controls the passage of clorium from the membranes of epithelial cells, influences the production of mucus in organs such as lung, pancreas and liver. The mucus (secretions) of organs and glands of the body are presented as thickened and dehydrated secretions. According to international data, the average life expectancy of patients with Cystic Fibrosis is estimated around 35-40 years, while in Greece is estimated to be smaller.
